In December 2025, the Economic Research Institute of Samjong KPMG, a leading domestic accounting and consulting firm, released the Future Industry Trend Report summarizing key issues and keywords of CES 2026. In it, the institute introduced the acronym H·O·R·S·E, which stands for Health-Tech (Digital Health), Open Ecosystem; Robot (Physical AI, Humanoid Robots), Self-Driving (Autonomous Driving), and Energy (Energy in the Era of Electricity). CES 2026, which focused on these five keywords, explained that technologies have now converged with industries, becoming further integrated into products and services in our daily lives, bringing about tangible changes and innovations to consumers’ lifestyles. The slogan for CES 2026 was "Innovators Show Up" as it is these individuals who are helping to lead the change in the paradigm of our daily lives. The CES event vividly demonstrated a number of such changes.
Artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, spatial computing, and space tech were presented as game changers that will lead to more innovations and reshape the current industrial paradigm, while smart home, digital health, mobility, lifestyle tech, fintech, and ESG drew keen attention as diffusion technologies that expand applications and drive market growth.
ERICA is accelerating its research efforts following the wave of technological innovations extensively presented at CES 2026. Researchers at ERICA are already pursuing the development of sustainable technologies and ultimate solutions, going beyond technologies already unveiled on the market. Readers can scan the following QR code to access the current status of ERICA’s education and research, which are moving in alignment with the keywords of CES.

Where there is technology and innovation, there is Hanyang University.
On January 7, 2026, Hanyang University held a Media Day at the CES 2026 exhibition center in Las Vegas, Nevada in the U.S., to share the value of the innovative research being pursued on campus, and to showcase students' creative startup ideas to the participants. The focus of the Media Day was to present to local and global stakeholders the connectivity between Hanyang University's research and technology commercialization. Representatives of the university introduced the full-cycle startup support process pursued by Hanyang’s Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation and the Technology Commercialization Center, and described outstanding startup achievements and case studies designed to pioneer new breakthroughs on a broader stage.
During the Media Day event, the Hanyang delegation introduced the university’s international capabilities and research achievements, as well as specific technology development cases from faculty research labs and student startups. By introducing new and various technologies created by student startups to the local media and stakeholders who were focusing on the market value of those technologies, the event served as a platform to unveil the future of Hanyang’s exciting young entrepreneurs. Moreover, the networking reception and exchanges with on-site stakeholders at the event provided new opportunities for Hanyang University to gain recognition for its technological value, accomplishments, and competitiveness. Hanyang’s stage is no longer limited to the domestic sphere, and we at ERICA Magazine look forward to witnessing more global recognition of the university’s dynamic research labs and promising startups, which are all helping to further enhance the international status of Hanyang.
